Café Sublette
BOCES will host a Science Café with University
of Wyoming students on Sunday, March 1st. Hear the
latest in conservation and biodiversity science from
three University of Wyoming Masters students. There
will be three 15-minute talks that will cover local
squirrels, squirrels from around the world, and local
songbird survival. The event is free, all are welcome.
There will be light food and coffee provided. The
event is hosted by the UW Biodiversity Institute
and Sublette BOCES.
3: Blood Moon The
Moon will move into Earth’s shadow, creating
a red Blood Moon. The totality event will last a
little under an hour, while the entire lunar eclipse
will last several hours. It will be visible to those
in North America, depending on local weather conditions.
For Rocky Mountain time zone, the whole event will
be from around 1:45AM to 6:30AM, with the peak eclipse
totality around 4:30AM (check your own sources to
confirm viewing information for your time zone.)

Party For
the Sublette County Historical Society at the Museum of the Mountain
Man in Pinedale. Social starts at 6PM with free refreshments
and drinks. Then a brief business meeting to elect 2026 board
members and officers. Program to follow with Special Guest Speaker
archaeologist Cody Newton on information about the metal detector
survey and archaeology at Fort Antonio - the Portuguese Houses.
These were potentially the same people who earlier built Fort
Bonneville near present-day Daniel, Wyoming. Are there similarities?
7: Gardening Goes Underground class Arlinda
McLaughlin will be teaching a gardening class specific to Sublette
County. Saturday from 9 am to noon, at the BOCES Education Center
in Pinedale. The class will feature different ways to garden,
such as in-ground beds, raised beds, and containers. Arlinda
will share gardening tips, soil and fertilizer recipes, and seed
suggestions to successfully grow all kinds of root vegetables,
such as garlic, onions, asparagus, potatoes, carrots, and more.
