French press are reporting that a wolf pack went on a livestock killing spree in a village in the French Alps, killing nearly two dozen sheep just feet from the mayor's house.

The Local, an online French news site, quoted the mayor as stressing just how close the wolves had come to prowling the streets of the village, home to about 1,600 people.
