Pinedale Boat Club - Fremont Lake
August 13, 2006

The Pinedale Boat Club hosted their annual Little America’s Cup Sailing Regatta on Fremont Lake Saturday and Sunday, August 12-13. Twenty-two boats and catamarans entered in the races, with sailors bringing boats from as far away as Utah.

The participants enjoyed beautiful sunny weather both days, with good winds picking up for the afternoon races. The event was based out of Lakeside Lodge, the only commercial resort and marina on the 11-mile long lake.

Lakeside Lodge hosted the event. Lakeside Restaurant catered the banquet. Cruising Direct/North Sails donated gear to give away. Nocora, Inc. made the pennants prizes. Jeff Goltz and Joe Retel operated the safety boats, and Cheryl Essington, Flo Retel and Jackie Godfrey did the timing and scoring.

7-year old passenger, Sam Lecain, made it clear he'd had enough after getting tossed into the lake when their catamaran tipped in the strong wind after going around one of the turns. A rescue boat wisked the little sailor off and John Lecain and Jon Peek righted their craft and continued in the race.
