Jim Creek Wildfire Use Road Closure Update
by Bridger-Teton National Forest
September 26, 2006

Road closures on the Jim Creek Wildland Fire Use have been modified to allow for human presence but remain closed to motorized access. Affected roads include the Jim Creek Road # 710, The Pot Creek Roads # 714 and #713 and the Boulder Basin Road #716.

Hunters and visitors to that area are encouraged to stay out of the burn, and to be aware of the hazards that exist if they choose to enter.

Dangers in the burn area include, hot spots under the ash due to the fire continuing to smolder; roots of trees burn out leaving deep holes that are often hidden by ash, soot or debris; standing burnt trees, or snags, create a serious hazard as they are weak and can fall at any time and on steep slopes rolling rocks pose a danger.

All road and trail closures associated with the Battle Mountain and Purdy Fires have been lifted.

For more information on the Jim Creek Fire and other area fires, go to www.inciweb.com or call 307-367-4326.
