David Muench’s Rocky Mountain Favorites, April 2007
by Mindi Crabb, Director, Sublette County Joint Tourism Promotion Board
March 20, 2007

The April 2007 issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine has a mention of our Wind River Mountains. The Winds are listed as one of David Muench’s Rocky Mountain Favorites in the article “Rocky Mountain Hotspots”.

The article states “Muench considers the Winds one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the world.” Muench is quoted as describing the Winds as “comparable to the Sierras. Not many people have photographed it, but it’s a very special place with a real alpine feel, especially in the northern part, where there are more trees. The southern part of the range is predominantly rocky, all glacial-carved moraines and granite cirques and horns, especially around Gannett Peak.” He says he has many favorite spots, including Island Lake out of Pinedale, Mounts Sacajawea and Warren, The Cirque from the Big Sandy entrance, and Fremont Peak.

The article is by James Lawrence with photographs by Muench.
