Three members of the American Mountain Men (AMM) visited Sublette County over the weekend American for a photo-video shooting session for the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale.

AMM members will return May 15-17 for Living History Days at the Museum, which is open to the public. Every May, the Museum of the Mountain Man and the American Mountain Men partner to put on "Living History Days", where students from all around western Wyoming come to learn about the "real" Mountain Man. Demonstartions focus on the day-to-day life of the Mountain Men. Among other things, students learned that the Mountain Men were in the Rocky Mountains to make money trapping beaver.

The American Mountain Men will be in Pinedale again July 12-15 for the Green River Rendezvous to give special living history talks demonstrations.

AMM members maintain a special display case in the Museum with exhibts that are authentic from the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade era of the early 1800s.

The American Mountain Men organization was formed in 1973 by a group of mountain man enthusiasts who wanted to learn the life of mountain men by living it. They all have regular jobs, but live and learn the mountain man ways as a hobby, and for some, a life-long passion for the lifestyle.

Mike Powell and Jim Langstein appear in the Museum's new DVD about Mountain Men, "Legacy of the Mountain Man". The DVD is available for sale from the Museum's online Trading Post. Proceeds help support the Museum.
