BLM swears in new Pinedale Field Manager and Law Enforcement Ranger
by Bureau of Land Management
March 9, 2008

On Wednesday, March 5, 2008, Chuck Otto was officially sworn in as the field manager at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) office in Pinedale, Wyo. Shane Wasem was also officially sworn in as BLM Pinedale’s first law enforcement ranger during the ceremony.

BLM Wyoming acting State Director Don Simpson officiated over the ceremony and administered the Oath of Office to both gentlemen. The ceremony was attended by BLM staff, state and local government officials, industry representatives, family members, and friends.

Otto replaced Dennis Stenger as field manager for the Pinedale Field Office which oversees approximately 922,880 acres of public land and almost 1.2 million acres of federal mineral estate. Before coming to Pinedale, Otto was the BLM Deputy Division Chief for the Division of Planning and Science in Washington, D.C. Wasem was serving as a ranger for the U.S. Forest Service in Jackson, Wyo. prior to taking the position of law enforcement ranger in Pinedale.

“The resources public lands offer lead us to the American dream,” said Otto in his speech after the ceremony. “I pledge to do my best to ensure that we are making the right decisions for these lands.”
