Very cold temperatures on the way
-30 to -35 below possible on Thanksgiving morning
November 21, 2010

The National Weather Service in Riverton issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow for western Wyoming and the Upper Green River Basin which is in effect until 5AM Monday. Snow amounts of 2 to 4 inches in the valley and up to 9 inches in the area mountains predicted. Winds up to 20 mph will reduce visibility to under ½ mile at times.

Travelers should be prepared for snow-covered roads and slippery driving conditions.

Residents across western and southwestern Wyoming should remain prepared for additional snowfall through Tuesday night as a couple of more winter storms will impact the area. A very cold airmass will settle across the area early next week with highs of single digits and teens spreading south from northern Wyoming into central and southern Wyoming Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight lows by Wednesday night could easily reach 5 to 15 degrees below zero across the south half of the area with at least 10 to 20 degrees below zero in the north. The colder valleys in northwest Wyoming may see 30 to 35 degrees below zero Thanksgiving morning.
