Utah officials express concerns about new BLM ‘Wild Lands’ order
Secretarial Order 3310 allows new federal land to be managed as wilderness without Congressional approval
January 17, 2011

The Salt Lake Tribune posted a story about Utah officials and citizens who met with Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Director Bob Abbey in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 14th regarding the new Department of Interior Secretarial Order 3310.

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar issued the Order on January 23, 2010. It directs the Bureau of Land Management, based on the input of the public and local communities through its existing land management planning process, to designate appropriate areas with wilderness characteristics under its jurisdiction as "Wild Lands" and to manage them to protect their wilderness values.
