The Pinedale Fine Arts Council is proud to present the fourth annual Sound Check Mini-Music Festival on Saturday, June 25 beginning at 5 p.m. in the American Legion Park in Pinedale.

The concert is free (donations appreciated) and will feature Shotgun Party from Austin, TX as headliners. Rounding out the bill this year will be Leo Rondeau & Dynamite Tales (also from Austin) and Jackson Hole alt-country duo Screen Door Porch will open things up.

Don’t forget to bring a chair, cooler, sunscreen and shades and enjoy a great summer evening listening to three great bands! PFAC will also be honoring long-time Pinedale band director (and PFAC collaborator) Craig Sheppard between sets.

Austin trio Shotgun Party play a hybrid genre of music that blends early jazz with dance hall Texas country, which is almost exactly what you would expect from an Austin trio called Shotgun Party. The group got their start playing a weekly show at the Continental Club in 2006, and they found their crowd growing week after week. The unexpected blend of depression-era jazz and classic Texas country combined with the group’s raw talent drew people in, and soon enough Shotgun Party found themselves recording and touring extensively.

Originally from North Dakota, Leo Rondeau now calls Austin home and pulls his languid drawl across country ballads braced by banjo and steel, the caustic crack of his voice cut with an ornery attitude. Rondeau’s impressive songwriting drifts through easy honky-tonk anthems and supple, aching, country waltzes all the while mixing traditional country and bluegrass with storytelling inspired by Rondeau’s upbringing in the Turtle Mountains. Rondeau will be joined by his traveling band Dynamite Tales for the June 25 performance.

The core duo of Screen Door Porch—Seadar Rose and Aaron Davis—have shaped a singing-songwriting bedrock described by The Austin Chronicle as, "a combination that goes down as smoothly as top-shelf bourbon." The Jackson Hole-based band thrives on an uncommon meld of groove-injected Folk-Blues, Soulful Americana, Rock and Alt-Country that is garnished with a range of instrumentation. From stripped-down acoustic songs to lush electric textures, the duo incorporates acoustic & electric guitars, mandolin, banjo, harmonica and kazoogle! Screen Door Porch’s debut studio album recently climbed to #16 on the Roots Music Folk Radio Chart alongside Bob Dylan!

The now annual Sound Check was first conceived five years ago by the Pinedale Fine Arts Council as a means of testing a new sound system they purchased with grant money from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund. The Town of Pinedale and the Sublette County Recreation Board also helped support this event.
