At approximately 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 7th a deputy on duty with the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office called in that a camper trailer was on fire at a residence on U.S. Highway 191 near Daniel Junction. The deputy called out a few seconds later that the trailer was fully engaged and there was a child trapped inside. Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene. A trooper with the Wyoming Highway Patrol arrived on scene immediately.
Despite the best efforts of the deputy and trooper on scene, Daniel Fire, Pinedale Fire and Pinedale EMS, the fire resulted in the death of the six-year-old child. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, Sublette County Fire Investigator and the Wyoming State Fire Marshall’s Office. The deputy and trooper were treated at the Pinedale Medical Clinic for smoke inhalation.
The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office extends our condolences to the family of the victim.
