Ask Flora - Garden Tour: Sept. 24
by Sage & Snow Garden Club
August 19, 2013
Can you spell FUN? Well, after the Fair last month, cousins visiting, unplanned trips to Jackson Hole, & hot weather, August promises a lot of FUN!
Some of my trees have spots all over them & others are sticky. What is wrong with them?
Signed, Poplar Oakley
There could be any number of simple or complicated answers. One source of information is through the Sage & Snow Garden Club. You could call a Club member who works with these issues all the time at 307-859-8629 or attend a Garden Club meeting. It always helps to have a specimen of the damage with you or a picture of it. Another source would be the University of Wyoming Extension Service Pinedale Office at 307-367-4380.
The Garden Club usually meets on the third Tuesday of the month, but not in August (see next Q & A). The next formal meeting will be September 17. Social time is at 4:30 P.M., followed by a short business session at 5:00 P.M. at the Sublette County Weed & Pest Office at 12 South Bench Road, Pinedale. To find out more about the Garden Club and read all Ask Flora articles, visit our website at www.sageandsnow.org. You can also call Club officer Jeanne (307-367-4212) to talk about specific projects you can get involved in.
I missed the garden tour last year. Will there be another one this year?
Signed, Botanically Curious
Yes, there will be another tour in a few weeks. We hope this will become an annual event each August. The Sage & Snow Garden Tours & Tea is coming up on Saturday, August 24, 2013, from 1-4 p.m. Three local gardens are on the tour with refreshments provided at each stop. If you would like to sign up, just call Arlinda at 307-367-2791 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. This is a wonderful way to meet local gardeners. This event is open to the public, but please contact us in advance so we know how many to prepare for.
