Denbury begins Riley Ridge plant start up
Flaring a normal part of start-up process
January 5, 2014

Denbury Resources, Inc. media release, Jan. 3, 2014
Riley Ridge Startup
Denbury announced the successful startup of the Riley Ridge gas processing plant prior to year-end 2013, as the plant initially separated and sold methane from a produced raw gas stream expected to average approximately 65% carbon dioxide, 20% methane, less than 1% helium, plus various other gases. This startup occurred slightly ahead of the Company’s most recently estimated start date in the first quarter of 2014. As the plant was placed in service in 2013, Denbury expects to record certain associated tax benefits in the fourth quarter of 2013. Following the planned construction of additional capture equipment and a pipeline to the facility later this decade, the Riley Ridge plant is expected to become Denbury’s anchor source of carbon dioxide in the Rocky Mountain region.

Pinedale Online Editor’s Note: Denbury Resources sent out the above media release regarding the start-up of their Riley Ridge gas processing plant in the Wyoming Range, west of Big Piney. They started flow through their pipeline in late December, 2013. As part of those start-up operations, there has been some plant flaring flames burning. The flaring flames can be seen from a long ways away, especially at night, causing some concern from local residents. According to Mike Liebelt from the Denbury Big Piney office, there is no cause for concern over the flaring and it is a part of their normal operations in getting to proper pipeline specifications. Liebelt said the plant is "online" and is selling gas now. Denbury purchased the gas plant from Cimarex in June, 2011.

Additional information from a post on the Sublette Emergency Management Facebook page: 27 Dec, 2013 at 1930 hours (7:30 pm). Units from Pinedale and Daniel Fire Departments, with Sublette County Emergency Management and Sublette County Sheriff's deputys responded to a possible structure fire west of the Pape Ranches north of the Horse Creek road. The Flame that was seen was found to be that of a Flaring Operation at the Denbury Facility on Riley Ridge; south and west of Big Piney. Denbury Plant Manager confirmed the active flare for the past three weeks, adding this is a normal part of the operation. Please understand that the flare can be seen from a long way off. Please call Sublette County Dispatch if there are any questions. 307-367-4378 JM SCEMA
