BLM seeks public comments on May 2016 O&G lease parcels
by Bureau of Land Management
November 2, 2015

The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) High Desert District is seeking public comments on the environmental assessment (EA) for the May 2016 Notice of Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale parcel offering.

Thirty-two parcels totaling 29,736.22 acres will be offered within the district, including 11 parcels in the Rawlins Field Office, 13 in the Rock Springs Field Office, four in the Pinedale Field Office, and six in the Kemmerer Field Office. Two parcels are within both the Rawlins and Rock Springs Field Offices.

An EA addresses the impacts of offering 32 parcels that are available for oil and gas leasing. The EA is available online at www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/programs/energy/Oil_and_Gas/Leasing.html.

Public comments are an essential component of the National Environmental Policy Act process. The public is encouraged to identify issues, concerns, ideas or mitigation opportunities not currently addressed in the EA to help ensure the best possible analysis. Written comments may be mailed or delivered to the BLM High Desert District, Attn: Tom Foertsch, 280 Highway 191 N., Rock Springs WY 82901; faxed to 307-352-0329; or emailed to BLM_WY_HDD_May_Parcels@blm.gov with "May 2016 Lease Parcels" in the subject line. Comments must be postmarked or delivered by December 2, 2015.
