On November 9th, the US Capitol Christmas Tree entered Wyoming on Interstate 90 and was escorted to Sheridan by Troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. As the trailer used to haul the tree measured out to 80 feet in length, it made a quick stop at the Sheridan-Dietz Port of Entry to purchase an oversize load permit. With the help of the Sheridan Police Department, the US Forest Service, and WHP Dispatch and Troopers, the tree exited into Sheridan where it spent the night.

The US Capitol Christmas Tree was harvested this year from the Chugach National Forest near Seward, Alaska. The tree left Alaska on October 27th and will arrive at our nation's capitol on November 20th.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10th the tree, Santa Clause and Smokey the Bear were on display in Sheridan allowing people to take photos and sign the tarp that was securing the tree. The tree left Sheridan with a WHP escort just before noon destined for Rapid City, South Dakota where it will take part in a Veterans Day parade Wednesday morning.
